Houser on his suspension

Biscuits pitcher James Houser said steroids were NOT why he was suspended today for violating baseball's drug policy, saying it was "just a mistake, something I regret.”

That leaves amphetamines, but Houser wouldn't specify what caused a 50-game suspension.

“I made a mistake and I have to pay the consequences," Houser said. "I feel bad for my teammates and the organization. I’ll live and learn, go on from here and come back next year.”

  1. amphetamines would not warrant a 50-game suspension. there is no suspension for a first positive. a second positive is 25 games. a third positive is 80 games.

  3. I thought of using the phrase "improper stimulant," but I guess that would have been wrong, too.

I did wonder why there isn't a more-detailed listing of the drug policy at http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/news/drug_policy.jsp

  5. professor-
You're reading the MLB rule - MiLB is 50.

I have no clue what happened in this case--I have heard of this--millions of kids started school this week--hundreds of thousands of these kids are back to taking Ritalin for ADD--yes if playing in the minors--without proper paperwork--out for 50 games
