Pitcher Dewon Brazelton, a former first-round draft pick who pitched three innings for the Biscuits in 2005, has signed with the independent Camden Riversharks. He went through an open tryout Saturday.
Brazelton was 8-25 with a 6.38 ERA with Tampa Bay from 2002-2005. The Rays demoted him to the minors in 2005, but he refused to go to Triple-A and disappeared for a month. When he returned, Tampa Bay sent him to Montgomery. He threw in one game and was promptly promoted back to the majors.
The 28-year-old was with the San Diego organization in 2006 and in the Kansas City and Pittsburgh systems in 2007. He was released by St. Louis in spring training in 2008.
This guy still has an enormous amount of potential..that he hasn't done anything with!
