Former Biscuits pitching coach Xavier Hernandez gave Andre Dawson a helpful hand toward the Hall of Fame and gave up the Hawk's final home run.
Dawson is the only player who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. The voting was annnounced today.
It was Sept. 22, 1996 when Hernandez served up Dawson's final tater. It was a three-run shot and capped the Florida Marlins' 6-0 victory over the Houston Astros. It was also Dawson's 438th home run in a 21-year career.
Dawson was 2-for-12 in his career with one strikeout and no hit batsman against Hernandez.
Of course, lest we forget of other former Biscuits pitching coaches, Dawson was 7-for-24 with two home runs against Neil Allen.
