Tampa Bay minor league spring roster

I hope you'll forgive my football-mushed mind while I try to transition into baseball. Driving all day Saturday and scheduled to report to camp Sunday, but here's something to get things going.

It's Tampa Bay's minor league camp roster -- dated Tuesday -- with 78 pitchers, 19 catchers, 36 infielders and 24 outfielders.

This will not include those souls still in major league camp. Unless I immediately remembered that the player goes by another name, I used the name listed on the roster. (They mostly go with full first names. Ex: Nicholas Barnese, Alexander Torres, etc.) And I blame any typos on football OD and Emeel Salem.

One name I noticed that's missing is Cesar Perez, who got $1 million out of Venezuela in 2009. Any idea what the deal is with him?

Looking forward to all the coverage from down there!

i have a question about the roster. will the players that are just invited to extended spring training be added then? and why would a player just be invited to extended spring training and not the whole camp?

i mean will the players just be added when they arrive? or have they been cut from the roster and extended spring training is more of a tryout for them?

Kevin,
I don't know about Perez, but I remember Leslie Anderson last year. He wasn't on the spring roster because he wasn't yet being allowed in the country.

Allie,
They'll add the extended-only guys then. I don't know every reason they may invite someone only to extended. In past years, they've had some injured people where they did that.
