Karns gets Opening Day nod from Bulls

Nathan Karns, who came to the Rays in a February trade with the Washington Nationals, will be Triple-A Durham's Opening Day starter

It will be Karns' Triple-A debut. The right-hander made 23 starts at Double-A Harrisburg and three with the Nats last season.

After Karns, Durham will start Enny Romero, Matt Andriese, Mike Montgomery and Erik Bedard, according to reports.

The Bulls begin their season at home Thursday against the Gwinnett Braves.

Romero was Montgomery's third-game starter last year. The Rays added Andriese and Montgomery in trades from the Padres this year and Royals last year. Bedard, after opting out of his contract last month to pursue major league opportunities, re-signed a minor league deal with Tampa Bay.
