Moore, Dan Johnson best of July on Tampa Bay farm

Durham third baseman Dan Johnson and Charlotte left-hander Matt Moore had the best months of July among Tampa Bay minor leaguers.

Their months -- and other notables from the organization -- are listed at the bottom.

Johnson is a Triple Crown candidate in the International League, while Moore has surged after a slow start in the Florida State League.

Johnson's .303 season average is seventh in the IL, entering today. His 30 home runs are seven ahead of second place and his 95 RBIs are 21 in the lead. (He's leads the entire minors in RBIs and is tied for the overall homer lead.)

Moore, who is second in the minors with 153 strikeouts, is 4-9 with a 4.05 ERA overall. He's thrown seven shutout innings in each of his last two starts. In his last nine games, he's 4-2 with a 1.59 ERA, 79 strikeouts and 29 hits allowed in 56.2 innings.
