Biscuits start hiring seasonal staff Saturday
The Biscuits will have their annual job fair Saturday to hire seasonal staff. It's 9 a.m.-noon at Riverwalk Stadium.
2014 Biscuits lose 2 in Rays-Nationals trade
The 2014 Biscuits took a hit with a trade between the Rays and Washington Nationals today.
Outfielder Drew Vettleson and left-handed pitcher Felipe Rivero, both expected to be with Montgomery this year, went to the Nationals in a four-player deal.
The Rays picked up right-hander Nathan Karns from Washington in exchange for major league catcher Jose Lobaton, Rivero and Vettleson. Lobaton is a former Biscuit.
Rivero finished 9-7 with a 3.40 ERA and Vettleson hit .274 with 62 RBIs at high-Class A Charlotte.
Vettleson was the 2012 BCS/RPI champion (Biscuit Crumbs Standings/Rays Player Indicator) at low-Class A Bowling Green. Vettleson hit .275 with 15 home runs and 69 RBIs for the Hot Rods. Rivero played in the 2012 All-Star Futures Game.
Karns, a 12th-round draft pick in 2009, was the Nats' minor league pitcher of the year in 2012. Last year, he made three major league appearances and was 10-6 with a 3.26 ERA at Double-A Harrisburg.
Lobaton joined the Biscuits in 2009 when the Rays added him in trade from San Diego. He had a .249 average in 100 games for Tampa Bay last year.

Sandoval gets major league spring invite
<Strong>Juan Sandoval</strong>, who spent much of last season with the Biscuits, has been added to the Rays' major league spring training party.
Infielder <strong>Wilson Betemit</strong>, outfielders <strong>Justin Christian</strong> and <strong>Jeremy Moore</strong>, and catcher <strong>Eddy Rodriguez</strong> will also be in major league camp.
That swells the Rays' spring list to 64 players.

8 Biscuits among 11 Rays non-roster invitees
The Rays have invited 11 non-roster players headed to major league spring training, including eight with Biscuits ties.
Catchers Mayo Acosta and Curt Casali, infielder Cole Figueroa, pitchers Merrill Kelly, Braulio Lara, Adam Liberatore and Victor Mateo, and outfielder Mikie Mahtook are the Biscuits in the group.
The others are pitchers Matt Andriese and Steve Geltz and catcher Luke Maile.
