Vettleson, Ames are 2012 BCS/RPI champions

Outfielder Drew Vettleson's all-around efforts with the Bowling Green Hot Rods landed him the 2012 BCS/RPI championship.

Vettleson hit .275 with 15 home runs, 69 RBIs and 80 runs scored this season. He also led the organization with 20 outfield assists.

The 21-year-old had a dominating tally in the Biscuit Crumbs Standings/Rays Player Indicator scale.

Vettleson scored 82 points, a 23-point advantage over second place Jake Floethe, a Bowling Green pitcher. Todd Glaesmann, who split time between the Hot Rods and high-Class A Charlotte, was third with 56 points.

Floethe had the most first-place days (nine), though Vettleson was in the rankings for the most days overall (26).

In the Little BCS for short-season teams, Hudson Valley's Jeff Ames had 18 points to beat teammate Sean Bierman and Princeton's Blake Snell by a one-point nose. Hudson Valley pitchers Taylor Guerrieri and Brandon Henderson were another point back.

Ames was 6-1 with a 1.96 ERA in 14 games.

There were 142 days where Biscuit Crumbs had a "Ranking the Rays" full-season feature and 68 for the short-season teams. There were 118 players who drew full-season votes and 73 from the short-season side.
