The Devil Rays traded Nick Green, an infielder at Class AAA Durham, to the New York Yankees for cash today.
That leaves a spot on the Bulls' roster open, meaning a Biscuit could be moving up. More later.

Interleague comparison
OK, this isn't about the Biscuits or even minor league baseball. You've been warned.
Major League Baseball lauded interleague play Monday by comparing the average fans per game between interleague and intraleague games.
"First weekend of Interleague Play draws 26.4 percent attendance increase." It seems that there was an average of 36,483 fans at this weekend's 42 interleague games, compared to an average of 29,148 for the rest of the season.
If interleague play is such a draw at the gate, then I have a suggestion ...

Let the exodus begin
The Biscuits lost one of their top relief pitchers Sunday when the Devil Rays promoted left-hander Jeff Ridgway to Class AAA Durham. The Rays are demoting lefty Jason Cromer, a starter the last two seasons in Montgomery, from the Bulls.
Are we about to see a repeat of 2005?
Last year, almost to the day, the first-place Biscuits started losing players key players en masse.
May 26: starting pitcher Chris Seddon (6-1, 4.82 ERA) to Durham -- the Biscuits dropped out of first place that day for the first time in three weeks,
May 29: stopper Chad Orvella (nine saves, 0.36 ERA) to Tampa Bay -- the Biscuits stayed 1 1/2 games back,
June 9: second baseman Fernando Cortez (.333 average, 39 runs, 23 RBIs) to Durham -- the Biscuits were in fourth, 2 1/2 back, and in the midst of a five-game losing streak that nixed any first-half title hopes.
The Biscuits failed to even have a winning record in the first half and finished in fourth place. They were toast in the second half and crossed the finish line 12 1/2 games out of first.
Montgomery is set up for the same again this year.
Kudos to Ridgway, who has revitalized a career after missing all of 2002 with arm problems and threw only 80 innings combined the last two years. He deserves to be promoted after bowling over Southern League hitters (10 hits allowed, 19 1/3 innings) and I know the minor leagues are for player development.
Without him, the Biscuits still have a chance of catching pennant fever -- unless the Rays start stripping the team again.

Well, I messed up Saturday night and believed the box score listed on minorleaguebaseball.com. Due to my goof, you read an error in Sunday's paper.
Brian Henderson pitched 3 1/3 shutout innings in the Biscuits' win Saturday night at Birmingham, according to the box score available at minorleaguebaseball.com just after the game.
Too bad he pitched 2 1/3, which milb.com fixed, but too late for our recap of the game.
Game ended at 10:28 p.m., barely 20 minutes before we had to have our first edition finished. We got the box score in for second edition, which includes the milb.com amendment.

And Henderson's ERA this season, which milb.com listed as 0.50 after his 3 1/3, is actually 0.53 after his 2 1/3, according to the corrected box score.
Sure, it's a small change, but I try to be accurate and sometimes have to be accurate just as the game ends.

Raburn to return
Johnny Raburn, who played all of last season with the Biscuits, is returning to Montgomery.
The Durham Bulls announced Sunday that Raburn has been demoted to the Biscuits. Raburn was hitting .194 in 24 games with the Bulls.
Durham had to make a move after Tampa Bay infielder Nick Green passed through waivers and accepted a demotion to the Bulls.
