Jeff Niemann, the highly regarded Tampa Bay prospect who claims to have expert fishing abilities, is apparently headed to Montgomery.
Niemann is supposed to join the Biscuits next Saturday.
Niemann hasn't pitched this season because of offseason shoulder surgery. He was with Montgomery at the end of last year, but was limited because of a groin injury he suffered earlier in the season.
Niemann, who was Tampa Bay's first-round draft pick in 2004, is as low key and humble a person as you could hope to meet, much less one who signed for $3.2 million. (Unfortunately, I'm told, that doesn't help him with the fish.)
