Series starter

The Stars and Biscuits play the lidlifter on their five-game set tonight at Riverwalk Stadium. Montgomery center fielder Fernando Perez is coming off a team-record four-steal effort at Birmingham on Friday and promises he'll run more than his three attempts in the first 14 games.

UPDATE: Pitcher Evan Meek threw again Saturday and has a simulated game scheduled for Wednesday. He could come off the disabled list as early as Friday.

The second annual Tour for the Cure, a cancer-awareness fundraising marathon that will take Tim Riley to 189 professional baseball stadiums in 159 days, is in the house.
