Zach Quate won't break camp with the rest of the minor league Rays.
Quate said he'll stay behind for a few weeks of extended spring training, but it's not because he's hurt.
"I feel great. I'm ready to go," Quate said. "It's all about managing my innings and making sure I make it through the season."
Quate threw just two innings last year because of elbow and shoulder injuries. He's been with the Biscuits the last two years.
"I don't want to look at this as a negative. It's really a positive," Quate said. "The Rays want to see me succeed or they wouldn't be doing it. It's not a negative."
