Seitzer to skip high-A, headed to Biscuits

First baseman Cameron Seitzer, who hit .307 last year for low-Class A Bowling Green, will start this year with the Biscuits.

He's skipping high-A ball and will be on Montgomery's Opening Day roster.

"I never expected that, but I'm very thankful for the opportunity," Seitzer said. "I'm just going to play every day and do the best I can."

Seitzer hit .285 with Rookie-level Princeton in 2011 after being taken in the 11th round of the draft out of Oklahoma. The 22-year-old's father, Kevin, played 12 major league seasons for the Royals, Brewers, A's and Indians.
