The Devil Rays took Long Beach State's Evan Longoria with their first-round draft pick today.
Longoria is a third baseman who was rated the top available position player. Tampa Bay had the No. 3 overall pick.
Longoria is not -- as in NOT -- related to Eva Longoria, the Desperate Housewives bombshell, despite the similarity of their names.

I guess Wes Bankston should start looking for a new position. Maybe a new team?
Longoria says he needs two years to reach the big leagues, but it's yet to be seen how he adapts to pro ball.
If he adapts well, Bankston can move back to first base.
