Relief pitcher Seth McClung , who was with Class AAA Durham, has been traded to the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Rays are swapping him for Grant Balfour, who was designated for assignment by the Brewers on Friday.
Balfour was 0-2 with a 20.25 ERA in three appearances with the Brewers. He started the year at Class AA Huntsville and made eight appearances -- including two at Riverwalk Stadium -- before moving up to Class AAA Nashville. He was 1-1 with five saves, a 1.69 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 32 innings with the Nashville Sounds.
McClung had a 1.99 ERA in 40 appearances with Durham and was 5-for-10 in save opportunities. He totaled 68 strikeouts and 43 walks in 58 2/3 innings.
McClung made three starts in a rehab stop with Montgomery in 2004.
