Durham loses International League opener

Tim Bennett threw six shutout innings and the Richmond Braves held off Durham's ninth-inning rally to take a 4-2 win in the first game of the International League championship series.

The Bulls scored in the ninth and had the potential tying run on base with two outs, but Justin Ruggiano struck out to end it.

The Braves scored three runs in the seventh, two on Mike Rozema's double. Rozema homered in the ninth to make it 4-1.

Durham scored in the eighth when Chris Richard singled in Jon Weber. In the ninth, Jason Pridie singled home Michel Hernandez.
