Former Biscuits pitcher Mitch Talbot, a star in the team's run to the 2006 Southern League title, will be the starter in Tuesday's Triple-A national championship game.
Talbot takes the hill for the International League champion Columbus Clippers, who face the Omaha Storm Chasers at 7:05 p.m. The game is televised by Versus from Albuquerque's Isotopes Park.
Talbot is 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA and a complete game in two playoff starts for Columbus. In 2006, he threw two five-hit shutouts in the playoffs for Montgomery.
This year, Talbot was 4-2 with a 4.26 ERA for Columbus and won his final three regular-season starts. He had a 6.33 ERA in 11 starts with Cleveland.
Omaha right-hander Sean O'Sullivan starts against Talbot. He threw eight innings in his only playoff start for the Pacific Coast League champion Storm Chasers. O'Sullivan was 8-2 with a 4.22 ERA in 14 regular-season starts.
The Storm Chasers also feature first baseman Clint Robinson, a Dothan native who played at Troy. He's hit .385 in seven playoff games after a .326 regular season that included 23 home runs and 100 RBIs.
