Briefly, not effectively

If anyone's doubtful, the rule does exist that kept Tim Corcoran from being Sunday's winner, despite being the pitcher of record when the Biscuits scored in the 10th to win at Jacksonville -- 10.17 (c).

I threw it out once for a high school game I covered to the benefit of a pitcher that later played in the big leagues. I gift-wrapped a win for Eric DuBose about 12 years ago when Patrician beat somebody 27-12 in a tournament in Meridian, Miss. The pitcher of record allowed like seven runs in 1 1/3 innings and gave way to DuBose, who was solid.

Poor, poor, Chris Mason. He finishes the season 15-4 after tonight's five-inning, two-run no-decision. Mason had seven starts where he worked at least five innings and allowed two runs or less and three other quality starts that were no-decisions.

The Biscuits' record when "poor" Chris Mason was the starter was a phenomenal 23-5. That could be a record that is never broken!
