Catcher Craig Albernaz, a Biscuit for part of five of the last six seasons, was among five players sent to minor league camp today by the Rays. The move was no surprise. This was Albernaz's fourth major league spring training.
"He's been a big part of our success just by what he does on a daily basis," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. "He's a lot of fun to be around. He doesn't complain about the workload.
"This guy has coach written all over him."
The other cuts were pitchers Jhonny Nunez and Romulo Sanchez, infielder Matt Mangini and outfielder Brad Coon.
