Stopper hit on forearm, leaves; nothing serious

Tampa Bay's injury-plagued spring added another scare Wednesday night when closer Fernando Rodney took a line drive off the right forearm.

It's been diagnosed as a contusion and doesn't appear serious. The liner came off Alex Presley's bat in the ninth inning of Tampa Bay's 6-4 win over Pittsburgh and appeared to hit Rodney just below the elbow.

The Rays are already shorthanded with outfielders B.J. Upton, Desmond Jennings and Sam Fuld, shortstop Reid Brignac and catcher Robinson Chirinos all ailing.
