Outfielder John Shelby has been released by the Tampa Bay Rays. Shelby came to the organization late last spring and played in 117 games with the Biscuits. It was his third straight season in the Southern League. Shelby made his Triple-A debut last season, too. The 26-year-old had a .269 average in six minor league seasons, including a .248 at Montgomery.
He's the only name missing on the minor league roster that's dated today compared to the roster dated Sunday.
