17 former Biscuits on Opening Day rosters, non-Rays division

After the Rays, Biscuits fans can look to the Windy City for their former stars.

Of the 17 former Biscuits on an Opening Day roster other than Tampa Bay's, three are with the Chicago Cubs: right-handed pitchers Jason Hammel and Jose Veras and outfielder Justin Ruggiano. The Cubs also feature Montgomery County native Wesley Wright, a left-handed pitcher.

The Oakland A's, Baltimore Orioles, San Diego Padres and Kansas City Royals each have two former Biscuits on their Opening Day rosters. The A's have a third, catcher Stephen Vogt, on their 40-man roster but in the minor leagues.

Padres pitchers Dale Thayer and Alex Torres both appeared in Sunday night's season-opening victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Thayer was the winning pitcher.

James Shields was the Opening Day starter today for the Royals, though reliever Wade Davis took the loss at Detroit.
