Brother proud of Morrison's rehab efforts, mindset

Ty Morrison's brother helped the Biscuits outfielder deal with surgeries on his elbow and shoulder last year.

Mike Morrison had his own Tommy John elbow surgery in 2008 and led Ty by example.

"It's been great to see how he's carried himself and stayed positive through all of it," Mike Morrison said. "When it happened, we kept reminding him to think about the positive and encouraged him.

"We reminded him there's a plan, and it's larger than us."

Mike Morrison returned to a college track and field career and was the NCAA decathlon champion at California as a senior.

Ty Morrison was hurt last year while with the Biscuits.

"I'm so proud of the way he's handled it with such poise," Mike Morrison said. "He's close to 200 pounds now and it sounds like he's stronger than ever and he's bigger than ever.

"I can't wait to see him come back and play."
