C.J. Riefenhauser didn't alter his daily offseason grind the day he hoped the Rays would call.
Knowing the team would finalize its offseason 40-man roster, Riefenhauser hoped he'd be on the list, but he didn't want the suspense, either.
"I didn't want to get my hopes up, to get too hyped," Riefenhauser said.
He went to the gym that morning and hung out with family that afternoon. He avoided MLB Network and didn't check out mlbtraderumors.com.
"Just a normal day," Riefenhauser said. "I didn't want to get let down. I stuck to my plans and kept my same routine."
