Kevin Kiermaier, after being told to keep his major league promotion a state secret, gave only one person an early tip.
Though he was told Aug. 29 that he would the Rays the next day, Kiermaier gave his big brother the news early the next morning. He called his mom from the airport ... after arriving in Arlington, Texas.
After debuting in Game 163 for the Rays, Kiermaier said he found 109 text messages on his phone.
