Bright cheered winning team in Congressional game

Talked to U.S. Rep. Bobby Bright (D-Montgomery), the former mayor, today for a story running Sunday on the Biscuits' operating revenue from 2004-09 compared to the projections used in 2002 by the City Council when it voted to build Riverwalk Stadium.

Bright did share that he sat out the recent Congressional Baseball Game due to a "partially pulled hamstring." He sat in the stands with his staff and cheered the Democrats to a 13-5 victory over the Republicans at Nationals Park.

"They didn't need me," Bright said. "I was on injured reserve. It was fortunate that they led the entire game to such a degree that they didn't have to pull me up."

Bright said he had already arranged to have a full Biscuits uniform before he went down with the injury. Depending on the November elections, his next shot will be in 2011.

"Next year, I hope to be fully mended," he said.
