Darin Downs and three other relievers held Louisville to one run over the final 6 1/3 innings in Durham's 6-2 win.
The Bulls evened the best-of-5 series 1-1. Game 3 is Friday in Durham.
Jake McGee, Joe Bateman and Winston Abreu worked the final four innings, giving up one hit and striking out seven.
Justin Ruggiano scored twice and Joe Dillon had two RBIs.
