The Jacksonville Suns had a weather-filled trip to Montgomery today.
Because of Tropical Storm Debby, the Suns needed more than seven hours to make the usual 5 1/2-hour drive and it required some side roads. When I-10 was closed, they ventured onto U.S. 90. At one point, they had to turn around in a prison before taking smaller roads to an open portion of I-10.
The Suns arrived at their Montgomery hotel at almost 4 p.m. and didn't get to Riverwalk until after 5 p.m.
"Looking back, we went through Live Oak and (The Weather Channel's) Jim Cantore is now in Live Oak," Suns manager Andy Barkett said. "Wherever that guy is, you don't want to be."
