Riggans aggravates shoulder; status TBA

Catcher Shawn Riggans aggravated his right shoulder on a pickoff throw to first before leaving Thursday's game.

"He felt something in there," manager Billy Gardner said. "It was an awkward-type throw and he aggravated something."

Riggans will be re-evaluated Friday, Gardner said. He's scheduled to be the designated hitter in Friday's game.

Shortstop Brandon Chaves left after two innings with a tight left hamstring. He slipped coming out of the batter's box on a first-inning groundout, but talked Gardner into staying in the game. Gardner pulled him after watching him on defense, including a second-inning error.
