Salas released by Indians

Juan Salas, the former Biscuit who reached the major leagues as a pitcher, was released today by the Cleveland Indians.

The Rays designated Salas for assignment in the offseason and traded him to the Tribe for minor-league infielder Isaias Velasquez, who is with low-Class A Bowling Green. Salas did not pitch in a game this season.

Also today, the Pensacola Pelicans finalized a contract with former Biscuits outfielder Francisco Leandro and Wilcox County native Clegg Snipes, who played in college at Troy.
