Lots of cuts in major-league camp

The Rays are having a big cut day from their major-league camp, pruning most of the remaining non-roster invitees. Obviously, that will have an impact on how the minor-league rosters will fall.

Pitcher Jason Isringhausen is being added to the 40-man roster. The Rays had open spaces, so no further move needed.

Isringhausen will start the season on the DL.

"He's a big boost for us," manager Joe Maddon said. "At some point, he's going to be very influential in our season."

Those cut were: infielders Adam Kennedy, Chris Richard and Ray Olmedo, outfielders Jon Weber and Ray Sadler and catcher Michel Hernandez.

They'll all go to Philadelphia for exhibition games Friday and Saturday. The Rays will likely take a few more minor-leaguers to Philly. (I believe Chris Nowak is one.)

Today's moves wipes out all non-roster invitees from major-league camp.
