Rays sign Cannon, possibly for Biscuits

First baseman Chip Cannon has signed with the Rays, who have assigned the 27-year-old to the Montgomery work list. At this point, that signals he's likely headed to the Biscuits to start the season.

Cannon hit .231 in 80 games last year at Triple-A Syracuse in the Toronto organization. He was an eighth-round draft pick in 2004 from The Citadel.
