Biscuits sit at 4-under 20 vs. roster limit

With all the recent promotions, the Biscuits play tonight's game at Jackson with just 20 players on the active roster. The Southern League allows a 24-man roster.

The 20 includes just 11 position players, two of whom are nursing injuries that were supposed to prevent them from playing tonight: infielder Shawn O'Malley and catcher Stephen Vogt. It would mean catcher David Wendt is in line for his first career Double-A start. It would also mean they can't argue any umpiring decisions and risk an ejection.

Of their nine pitchers, three are regular starters and another, Frank De Los Santos, is scheduled to start Thursday in place of the promoted Jim Paduch. The Biscuits haven't announced who will start in promoted Matt Moore's place Friday. That puts more pressure on the remaining starters for a lengthy outing ... or one of the healthy position players could be climbing the mound at some point.

Or, maybe, a player or two will join the team. Today's Charlotte and Bowling Green notes list no transactions. Or, in an even unlikelier event, might pitching coach Bill Moloney or hitting coach Ozzie Timmons slide onto the active roster for spot, emergency duty?

on the bright side, that'll make it easier to fit all the players signatures on one baseball at the upcoming autograph day!
