Biscuits center fielder Desmond Jennings was promoted to Triple-A Durham after tonight's game.
Jennings was Montgomery's brightest star this season and one of the Southern League's top players. He had a .316 average (third in the league entering Friday), 37 stolen bases (first) and 69 runs scored (second). Jennings also ranked among the league leaders with a .395 on-base percentage and 41 extra-base hits.
“It’s been OK,” Jennings said of this season. “I don’t know. It’s been all right. It could have been better. It could have been worse.”
The 22-year-old played just 24 games last year because of shoulder and back injuries.
Outfielder J.T. Hall, off the active roster since the All-Star break, will take Jennings' roster spot.
