Tennessee catcher Robinson Chirinos and Huntsville left-hander Chris Cody were the Southern League's weekly award winners.
Chirinos is 7-for-15 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in four games since the All-Star break, including a five-RBI game Thursday. He walked three times Saturday and had three RBIs Sunday against the Biscuits. Chirinos has a 1.027 on-base-plus-slugging percentage this year.
Cody allowed three runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings of a win Saturday. He struck out a season-high nine and is 5-7 with a 5.10 ERA this year. (There must be extenuating circumstances or it must not have been a strong week in the league.)
Pitcher Jo-Jo Reyes, after being traded from the Atlanta organization to Toronto, made the most of his debut with Double-A New Hampshire. He allowed one hit in eight shutout innings Friday and won the Eastern League's pitching award. Reyes was at Triple-A Gwinnett when he was traded.
