Infielder Chris Nowak, deactivated by the Biscuits on Monday, was released today. Nowak asked for his release and the Tampa Bay organization granted it, Montgomery manager Billy Gardner said.
Nowak was in his seventh season with the Rays and his fourth with the Biscuits. He was Montgomery's player of the year in 2008 after hitting .295 with 15 home runs and 77 RBIs.
This year, the 27-year-old had a .248 average in 64 games. He also had seven home runs, which led active Biscuits, and 33 RBIs.
