Cubs manager Lou Piniella, who said today that he's retiring at the end of the year, remains a minority owner in the Biscuits and also started his professional playing career in the area.
Piniella made his pro debut in 1962 for the Selma Cloverleafs of the Class D Alabama Florida-League. In 70 games with Selma, the 18-year-old Piniella hit .270 with eight home runs and 44 RBIs.
