Birmingham-Southern catcher to A's

It didn't take long for a second Alabamian to go in the second day of the draft.

Birmingham-Southern catcher Bruce Maxwell went with the second pick of the second round (No. 62 overall) to the Oakland A's.

Maxwell was the Division III national player of the year. He's a Sparkman High graduate from just outside Huntsville who hit .471 with 15 home runs and 48 RBIs in 47 games this year. He also scored 56 runs, walked 59 times and totaled 11 strikeouts.
