Infielder Adam Kennedy has been traded from Tampa Bay to Oakland for a player to be named. Kennedy was with Triple-A Durham.
Kennedy was St. Louis' regular second baseman last year and signed a minor-league deal with the Rays in February. The 33-year-old had a .280 average in 23 games with the Bulls.
Durham already lost an infielder this week when Elliot Johnson went on the DL with a broken thumb.
4:50 update: Also, former Biscuits outfielder Joey Gathright has been dealt from the Cubs to the Orioles for outfielder Ryan Freel. Gathright is headed to Triple-A Norfolk. (I picked a good time to check mlbtraderumors.com this afternoon.)
