Riggans' rehab interrupted; Beckham out, too

Updated ...

Rehabbing major-league catcher Shawn Riggans was originally scheduled to be the designated hitter tonight for the Biscuits, but Thursday's shoulder problem has caused a change in plans.

Riggans isn't in the lineup tonight and will see Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham on Monday.

Riggans is here and currently on the field for batting practice. (I arrived as the Biscuits were finishing infield. He was taking part in what I saw, but that only entailed him catching the ball and flipping it to manager Billy Gardner.)

Riggans was supposed to catch five innings Thursday. He left in the fourth after aggravating his right shoulder. Riggans is on Tampa Bay's disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis.

Barons shortstop Gordon Beckham also isn't in the lineup tonight. He also left early Thursday and has had some leg problems late. Just a day of rest for him.

Otherwise, you can read about former Biscuit Wes Bankston, now of the Louisville Bats.
