Thursday, Game 1: Barons 10, Biscuits 2

Jared Mitchell knocked in three runs and scored twice to lead the Birmingham Barons in a 10-2 win over the Biscuits in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday.


The second game of the day-night twinbill will begin at 7:05.

Mitchell, who was a national champion in both football and baseball at LSU, singled home Birminghan's first run in the second inning. He singled and scored in the fourth to make it 3-0. After being intentionally walked in a three-run fifth, he hit a two-run triple and scored in a four-run sixth.

Right-hander Nestor Molina (3-1) fell one out shy of his first career complete game. In 6 2/3 innings, he gave up 10 11 (scoring change) hits, walked one and struck out seven.

Kyeong Kang homered in the fifth and hit an RBI triple in the sixth for Montgomery.
