Stanhope Elmore graduate Brandon Hamilton, a supplemental first-round draft pick last month by the Detroit Tigers, signed late Tuesday night.
Hamilton said he's leaving early Thursday for Lakeland, Fla., and will be assigned to the the Gulf Coast League Tigers. The right-handed pitcher was the 60th overall pick in the draft.
Hamilton declined to specify the amount of his signing bonus, but said it was similar to the package given last year's 60th pick. Last year, the Milwaukee Brewers signed Georgia high school shortstop Brent Brewer for $600,000.
