Catcher John Jaso is counting some blessings for the broken ring finger on his left hand. The break was on the tip of the finger and not in a joint.
It happened in an intrasquad game last week and he has two more weeks until it fully heals. While batting, he backed away from an inside pitch but didn't get his hands out of the way.
"I'm surprised it was just one of my fingers," said Jaso, who played in exhibition games Wednesday and Thursday. "I'm wearing padding to protect it, so it should be OK."
