Sunday, Game 1: Biscuits 8, Braves 0

Alex Torres allowed two hits over six innings to lead the Biscuits in an 8-0 win over the Mississippi Braves in the first game of a doubleheader today.

Torres (2-1) gave up a leadoff single in the first and a leadoff double in the fifth. He walked four and struck out seven.

The left-hander worked out of trouble in the fifth inning. With Montgomery ahead 1-0, the Braves had two on and none out but Torres worked out of trouble.

The Biscuits answered with seven runs in the bottom of the inning, all with two outs. Nevin Ashley hit a two-run double and Greg Sexton a two-run single. After Cody Strait’s RBI single, John Matulia singled in the final two runs.

Matulia singled to lead off the inning and scored on Ashley’s hit. Matulia also scored in the third inning.

Braves starter Mike Minor (0-2) allowed seven runs -- none earned -- in 4 2/3 innings.
