Reliever Neal Frontz was one of at least three releases by the Rays today.
Frontz spent the last two seasons with Montgomery and was expected to return for a third. He had offseason elbow surgery after going 2-0 with one save and a 5.29 ERA in 43 appearances last year. Frontz had seven saves and a 2.82 ERA in 18 games in '08.
The other known releases were pitcher Joseph Callender and catcher Tyler Hauschild.
