Outfielder Ryan Royster expects to have surgery Friday for a herniated disc in his back and will miss at least six weeks. He said it's something that started during Montgomery's series at Chattanooga, but he's also had back problems for a few years. No word on who will take his roster spot.
Pitcher Jake McGee took part in the staff's fielding practice today and looked OK. The Biscuits are going to push his next start back a few days. He won't pitch in this weekend's series at West Tenn and will be scheduled to pitch the series opener Tuesday at home against Jacksonville.
