Smokies snare Southern League awards

The Tennessee Smokies swept the week's Southern League honors.

Former Vanderbilt star Ryan Flaherty was the top hitter after a 10-for-22, 11-RBI week. Right-hander Robert Whitenack landed the pitching award after a two-start week where gave up two runs in 12 innings. That includes seven shutout frames Tuesday at Chattanooga.

Whitenack is 4-0 with a 2.57 ERA this season Flaherty has a .322 average, 10 home runs and a league-best 46 RBIs.
