Tim Beckham singled in Kyeong Kang with the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, helping the Biscuits claim a 2-1 victory over the Chattanooga Lookouts on Tuesday.
Kang led off the eighth with a 14-pitch at-bat that ended when he was hit by a Cole St. Clair pitch. Cole Figueroa bunted Kang to second and he scored on Beckham's sharp single to center field.
Both starters were terrific Tuesday.
Montgomery's Matt Moore worked six shutout innings, allowing two hits. He issued four walks and struck out seven. Chattanooga's Rubby De La Rosa gave up an unearned run over seven innings. He also allowed just two hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.
The Lookouts tied it in the eighth off reliever Matt Bush when Alfredo Silverio singled in Brad Coon. In the ninth, Chattanooga had runners on first and third with two outs before Bush struck out pinch-hitter Elian Herrera.
