Rays pitcher Scott Kazmir, who debuted in the organization with the Biscuits in 2004, is being traded to the Los Angeles Angels, according to multiple reports.
The St. Pete Times says Kazmir will fetch two minor leaguers from the Angels: left-handed pitcher Alex Torres (left) and third baseman Matt Sweeney (right).
Before the season, Baseball America ranked Sweeney 18th and Torres 24th in the L.A. organization.
Sweeney has a .299 average in 58 games at high-Class A Rancho Cucamonga. He just recently returned from a hip injury that cost him two months. Sweeney didn't play last year because of an ankle injury.
Torres is currently at Double-A Arkansas and has a 2.77 ERA in five starts. He started the year at Rancho Cucamonga and went 10-3 with a 2.74 ERA.
