Alexander Smit and Sean Watson combined on a three-hitter in Carolina’s 1-0 win over the Biscuits in the opening game of a doubleheader Monday. Smit (4-3) allowed two hits, walked four and struck out nine in six innings. Juan Castro singled home Jake Long in the third inning for the run against Brandon Mann (6-9).
